Designer Series: Cream & Coastal Interiors with @sandiegoidg
As summer winds down, our design studio is only heating up! All thanks to Alynn Etzler with San Diego Interior Design Group. Alynn and her company specialize in residential design doing remodels and then refurnishing the new space. To say that we were impressed with her take on the dreamy spaces she created for us is an understatement.
Products Styled
To achieve both designs, the following two products were styled using a blend of in-store furniture accents, studio props, and Alynn’s own accent pieces.
Room #1: Coastal Neutral
The Result:
For her take on our Carlsbad Upholstered Panel Bed she chose to mix it up a bit and pair the bed with the Melbourne Nightstand, Dresser and Mirror all in a subtle washed gray mineral finish. When asked about her selection she was aiming for a classy coastal version, and she certainly delivered. By pairing the Amy Accent Chairs in Sherpa White and coordinating with striped accent pillows created that cape vibe she was looking for. On the nightstands she added the Jamon Table Lamps and accented the dresser with the Hannela Large and Small Vases and Jolina Boxes in Beige. To add some softness to the space she also chose the Samsen Throw Blanket and the Sonoma Rug in Beige and Brown in an 8x10 size to give a grandiose scale to the room. She recommends not being afraid to layer and use a variety of textures. Another great tip was mixing both high and low-end accents to bring a space together – not everything on your décor pallet has to be super spendy to achieve the look you want!
Room #2: Creamy Wonderland
For the living room she selected the Brazil Tux Sofa Sectional in Dano Fossil to build the room around. She advises not to be afraid to use pieces of a larger scale to fill the space - go big for a dramatic effect! The Hopkins Accent Chairs in Light Natural were the perfect neutral counter balance to the sectional and paired perfectly with the Harvey Accent Ottoman as the coffee tables. The Oxford End Table in Mineral added function to the space and could be styled on multiple surfaces. Alynn recommends incorporating both functional and emotional items to your design so you’ve got a good balance of your personal style. She accented the space with Brockham Wall Art, Hannela Small and Large Vases and the Jolina Boxes in Beige and created a moody scene with these finishing touches.
We were so grateful to spend the day with Alynn and her team. We learned so much about styles, textures, and the subtle art of layering.
